A stored procedure is a prepared SQL code that you can save, so the code can be reused over and over again. So if you have an SQL query that you write over and over again, save it as a stored procedure, and then just call it to execute it. You can also pass parameters to a stored procedure, so that the stored procedure can act based on the parameter value(s) that is passed. A stored procedure is used to retrieve data, modify data, and delete data in database table. You don't need to write a whole SQL command each time you want to insert, update or delete data in an SQL database. Benefits of using a stored procedure It can be easily modified: We can easily modify the code inside the stored procedure without the need to restart or deploying the application. For example, If the T-SQL queries are written in the application and if we need to change the logic, we must change the code in the application and re-deploy it.
