About Learn Compression: Dynamics Processing for Beginners!

Audio Compressors are crucial to make music loud, while still controlling volume to sit in a controlled, yet musical way.

The problem when mixing music without compression is that audio tracks contains loud and quiet parts.  The quiet parts don't cut through, and the loud parts risk distortion in your song!

The loud and quiet parts of audio are called dynamics, which is where Dynamics Processing enters the scene.

How to Use Compression for Beginners:

A compressor is essentially an automatic volume controller, which automatically reduces loud parts of audio so that they become a similar volume to the quiet parts of the audio!

One of the most confusing parts of compression was simply thinking compressors were only for volume control, but that's not true!  You can also use a compressor to shape audio to pop and make drums hit harder, or squash the peaks of audio so the audio becomes consistent, smooth, and tucks into the mix in a controlled way.

This Compression Course will teach you:

The basic components of a compressor: Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, Hold, Lookahead, Knee, Range.

How to listen for compression

How to dial in compression settings

How to use compression for making beats & producing music

To this day, compressors are the hardest part of music production to learn.  It's very important to understand the types of compressors, as some are more aggressive than others, and give you a different sound.

You can use a compress on a single audio track, or on the MASTER Bus to Master your music.  The mindset of how we're using a compressor for Mixing vs. Mastering is much different, and the settings aren't as aggressive in mastering.

Audio Compression for Producers:

If you want to learn how to use compression in music production for beatmakers & producers, that's who this course is for.

You will Learn Compression & Dynamics Processing to get your audio tracks to fit in the mix.

You will also learn mastering compression, and why we must be subtle in our compressor settings, compared to mixing compression.

We cover each part of a compressor using FabFilter Pro-C 2 plugin, which is an excellent tool to learn off of.

It's also important to understand that each compressor is different.  Some compressors may not have certain parameters like range, lookahead, or even sidechain compression!

So by me showing you FabFilter Pro-C 2 compressor, you can then go and use any compressor and know how to use all compressor settings, IF your compressor supports it!
