What You Will Learn?

  • Are you ready to break up with fast fashion and learn how to upcycle and re-design your clothing? Do you have garments that need an upgrade or do you find yourself looking for second hand clothing and nothing seems to be quite right?  If yes, then this is the right class for you..
  • Learn how to restore second hand clothing using plant dyes and hand sewing!.
  • This class will give you the essential skills needed to renew your closet in an environmentally-friendly way. You will learn how to choose garments that are ideal for naturally dyeing and the whole process of how to dye them in your very own home. You will also learn how to transform them into the right size and color for your wardrobe with simple sewing. .
  • We will cover:.
  • This class will take you through the process, start to finish, of making a basic garment become tailored to your taste without the waste or hazard of conventional dye methods..
  • Did you know that the textile dyeing and finishing industry is one of the most chemically intensive industries on the planet and the second largest source of pollution of clean water (after agriculture)? Not only do these chemicals pollute our earth, but they are a danger to our health when working with them. That's why using alternative methods such as natural dye to forward the fashion industry is so important--take this class and join the sustainable fashion movement!.
  • The best way to start is to slow down and re-create your own wardrobe with materials that are already out there instead of buying new items. This project can be applied to a wide range of garments and can be used to develop your own unique style and color palette. With a few simple sewing techniques, you can  transform oversized or dull garments into a fit that reflects your own style. .
  • No prior knowledge is necessary, although you will need to order a few supplies to make your garments come to life (see project description for full supply list)..
  • Looking forward to seeing you in class!.
