
GW: Capstone: Maternal and Child Health
In this capstone course learners will integrate and synthesize knowledge gained from the four preceding courses and apply that knowledge to real-world maternal and child health scenarios nationally and globally. Learners will explore the health and well-being of adolescent girls globally, climate change, women’s economic empowerment, and maternal health in the U.S.

What You’ll Learn
During this capstone experience, learners will synthesize and apply knowledge through in-depth exploration of contemporary maternal and child health challenges nationally and globally. Using problem-solving methodologies, learners will:
examine the Girl Rising case study on the health and well-being of adolescent girls globally;
examine the intersection between women’s health and women's labor force participation and economic empowerment;
identify current climate change issues facing maternal and child health populations and learn to communicate policy or programmatic solutions through developing an Op-Ed; and
examine black maternal health in the U.S. and develop a logic model for an evidence-based intervention.
